- Lambert of Hersfield
- (c. 1027–c. 1085)Historian.Little is known of the life of Lambert. He was a Benedictine monk in the Abbey of Hersfeld. He is remembered for his Annales, a chronicle which starts with the creation of the world and finishes in his own time. The period from 1067 to 1077 is very detailed and, until the middle of the nineteenth century, it was the main historical source for the story of the struggle between Pope Gregory VII and the Emperor Henry IV.I.S.
